Why should I hire a professional photographer for my family portraits?
There are so many reasons for you and your family to have your portraits created by a professional. To commemorate a family gathering, a tiny new addition to your family, or simply that our children grow up in the blink of an eye and you want to celebrate their journey through life. Newborns, toddlers, children, young adults, then high school graduates- there is no time like the present to create beautiful memories. Capturing a moment in personal family history makes a statement about who you are and the love you have for those closest to you. A professional photographer will work with you, from portrait design, to image creation, through the final print and product selection, we even come to your home to assist with the display of your artwork.
Why are the prints I get from a professional photographer so much higher priced than the prints I get from my local lab?
Each image is meticulously art-worked and printed by hand, on archival fine-art paper and/or canvas. Your portraits are works of art that will be cherished now and for generations to come. Our portrait artists spend a lot of time making you look your best in each and every image, whether you have purchased a 5X7 print or a 50 inch canvas portrait. Our fine art prints last three times as long as old fashioned traditional photographic prints.
Most of your products include framing, what kind of framing quality can I expect?
We offer the ultimate in framing services. We work closely with our trusted framer, who has an amazing variety of fine frames with over 20 years of framing experience. We are also pleased to offer you, your own personal “Portrait Concierge.” The ultimate anti-do-it-yourself portrait hanging service, we’ll take care of it all for you, from framing to delivery and portrait installation.
Why do I need a studio premier when I can just order from a web gallery?
After your session we’ll book the date for your studio premier to view and select your images in our high definition theatre, and spoil you with libations and snacks! During your premier you will be able to view all your images and browse through our product offerings. We’ll start with a movie of your photographs and then our expert professionals will guide you through the selection process. Our professional viewing software makes it easy to compare images, view in colour, sepia and black and white with the click of a button and to look at possible collections and album layouts.
I notice that if I place my order at the time of my studio premier, I receive 20% off all product prices, I’m not complaining but why is that?
We find that when we offer a significant discount to place your order at the time of your studio premier, over 90% of our clients place their order at this time. It is our goal that your order get placed and your family heirlooms make it onto the walls of your home as soon as possible so that you can enjoy them for many years to come. When our clients order at this time, it keeps our studio running on it’s meticulous schedule and everyone is happy!
How long will I have to wait to see my images after the portrait creation?
It is generally a 2 week period between your portrait creation and your studio premier.
After I place my order, how long will I have to wait to receive the final product(s)?
Your order will be ready for pick up at the studio within 4-8 weeks, depending on the products you choose. We know it is exciting to receive your finished products, please have patience as we painstakingly comb over every part of the product production to ensure you receive the best quality product as quickly as possible. Please let us know if you are planning on gifting any of your portraits. We offer complimentary gift wrapping, including our signature ribbon and a gift card.
Since your artwork is so valuable, do you offer a warranty or your work and products?
We back each portrait with our lifetime warranty. In the unlikely event, that your portrait becomes damaged or fades, we will replace it free of charge. Additionally, each wall portrait from BK Studios, comes with a certificate of authenticity and a certificate of valuation, for archiving in your safe or safety deposit box.
What type of equipment do you use?
We shoot 100% digital photography. We use only the highest quality Canon professional digital cameras and a wide array of Canon lenses. And yes, we bring back up equipment to every shoot. Actually, we bring back up equipment for our back up equipment!
How much experience do you have?
We’ve been photographing weddings, events, people, places and things for over twelve years. As of 2010, we have photographed over 500 weddings combined, hundreds of business portraits and at least 600 family portraits. Both of the studio’s principle photographers have extensive professional training, many awards under their belts and are respected professionals in their field.
Will you/do you travel for weddings, events and sessions?
Yes we are available for travel anywhere in the world. And yes-our travel rates are reasonable!
How would you describe your style of photography?
Our style focuses on capturing the fun and emotion of your wedding day or family portrait with relaxed portraits that showcase the connections between you and your loved ones, unique and edgy images, and amazing details with punchy color and interesting perspectives. On the flip side, sometimes it is the simplest images that say the most. We love what we do and it shows in each and every image we create for you.
What about fee payment?
The creation fee is payable upon booking your session and is non- refundable. When you place your portrait order, 50% of the total amount is dues upon placing the order and the remainder upon pickup. We accept cash, cheques, interact and we accept Visa & Mastercard…so go ahead, and rack up those bonus points and frequent flyer miles!!
